Jamun – The Collective was started by Ayesha Sood & Udayan Baijal – aged 38 & 33 respectively. The small studio was started in 2010, born out of the need to create an independent film production house. In fact, the main agenda of the studio is to create, innovate & foster work from advertising and brand films to more socially and politically engaged work.
The company does both commissioned, as well as, in-house projects. Moreover, you might just find them on the streets shooting a film. Udayan adds “it’s hard to describe what our aim is – but I’d like to think of Jamun as a collective – a space where a film crew can come in, ideate, and collaborate to make films.”
And that’s just how Jamun started. With a bunch of people with the same aim but wanting to create a niche in the market. Something not too Bollywood but also not too small scale.
