#Ruined: 6 Book To Movie Adaptations That Make The Reader in You Scream ‘WHY’

Know it All in 30 Seconds

We have all seen our favourite books being turned into a mess of a film and while us readers do understand, a book turned film won’t ever be just like the book and there’s always a creative freedom associated to films that lets them deviate but sometimes, it is just too much and not worth it. Below are some that do not really live up to the charm that the books set and make the reader in you scream and cry.

1. The Divergent Series: Allegiant (2016)

Started fairly well, the divergent series just went downhill post the first film and this particular one drives you to insanity.

2. The Percy Jackson (2010-2013)

Rick Roden must have felt a sigh of relief when the third part got cancelled. A beloved trilogy – ruined.

3. Vampire Academy (2014)

Won’t even get started on this one. This one had the whole fandom raging.

4. The Girl On The Train (2016)

While Emily Blunt’s acting was fabulous, it had its flaws. Some deem it great, some hate it. No in between.

Based On | The Girl On The Train by Paula Hawkins

Stream On | Netflix

5. The Dark Tower (2017)

What ruined this one was the over-ambitiousness of putting the multiple geniuses of Stephen King’s novel series, all in a single film. So overburdened as if it were running to fail.

Bottom Line

Many more ruined versions, but enough ‘ugh’ for today.
