Know It All 30 Seconds
One of the three UNESCO world heritage sites of Delhi, Qutub Minar recently got a ravishing facelift with an expanded parking space, a cafeteria, a cloakroom and new booking counters. Read on!
The old parking space opposite to the Qutub Minar main gate has been broadened and beautified with red sandstone, street furniture and green plants. Also, six new booking counters have come up inside the parking lot, and these too are embellished elegantly with quaint ornate pillars. The revamped display of the parking lot aptly complements the old-world charm of the sky-kissing monument.
Apart from the ticket counters, a cafeteria, a cloakroom and four rainwater harvesting units have also been built in the parking area. The authorities are even thinking about installing touch screen info-kiosks inside the monuments from where all the data regarding Qutub Minar can be retrieved. What’s more, tourists might be able to avail free Wi-fi services in and around the Qutub zone in a few days.
Similar services are anticipated to be rolled out in other heritage destinations of the city as well to revolutionize the overall tourism experience in the capital.
