Delhi is all set to get an international level multi-game sports complex, and sports lovers can’t wait to step foot on its hallowed ground!
Located in Najafgarh, the complex will be built with all modern facilities for cricket, football, basketball, athletics, tennis and swimming. The Delhi government sanctioned a total budget of Rs 122 Cr. for the sports complex.
The highlight of the complex will be the football ground – which has already been constructed. It will be a certified venue for international football matches! In fact, FIFA officials inspected the complete ground in November which has now become the first ever FIFA verified football ground in the country.
The aim of this sports complex is to help the talented sports enthusiasts in Delhi and Haryana, as they remain unidentified due to poor training and fewer opportunities.
The complex is said to be built in two phases. The first phase shall include athletics, tennis, basketball, and swimming. It is scheduled to be completed within six months. In the second phase, a sports academy and residential facilities will be set up.
The government has set a target of 18 months to complete and open the sports complex for public use.
