If you’re riding your bike often without wearing a helmet or outdoing the sanctioned speed limits on roads, then it’s high time that you get your alert meter high. Traffic watchers in the city are imposing exorbitantly high fine charges for defying even the slightest of the underlined road laws.
Under the amended Motor Vehicles Act, an auto-rickshaw driver in Gurgaon was fined a whopping ₹32,500 for hastily jumping a traffic signal last Tuesday. To add fuel to the fire, he didn’t even have his license documents ready. The rider was not only charged with the fine, but his vehicle was also impounded. Another Delhi man was charged ₹23,000 for not wearing a helmet and violating air pollution standards.
With CCTV cameras installed at various junctures of the city, monitoring traffic has got even more stringent. So if you’re driving through the streets of the capital, be sure to stick to the traffic rules if you aren’t up for shelling out a large chunk of money.
