Pearl Academy’s Noida Portfolio Showcased The Experimental Side of The ‘Creators Of Tomorrow’

Delhi has become a city with a broad diversity of fashion trades, with the wave of young fashion designers bringing up new styles every day. From street fashion to designer wear, Delhi has pretty much got it all when it comes to fashion.

Recently, Pearl Academy completed 25 years of its conception. To celebrate this glorious achievement, they hosted the Pearl Portfolio on May 4th and 5th. This event was held at the Noida campus that saw a large number of students showcase their masterpieces. The sheer grandeur of these collections truly left us lost for words.

Every year, Pearl Academy organizes The Pearl Portfolio, which acts as a launch platform for its graduating students. It provides them with a unique platform to showcase their brilliant masterpieces in front of a broad audience, and this year was no different.

In this two-day fashion extravaganza, May 4th had workshops for the students, while May 5th had the final showcase of their collection.

This event witnessed the presence of eminent personalities such as Madhav Raman (co-founder of Anagram Architects) and Mohor Roy, (Director, Brand Ideation & Content Lead Designer at Codesign) among others.

And that was only the beginning – the event also had an exhibition of ingenious projects by students from the School of Design and the School of Business.

Surbhi Singhal displayed the unique concept of a human café. The aim of her design was to construct a place that would help people come together and share their stories like travel experiences, survivors, strugglers, writers, poets, and people with life-changing experiences.

Another project by Sukham Sond reflected the revival of Sukhna Lake in Chandigarh, with a world-class aquarium as the backdrop.

Vidhushi, a student of Interior Architecture design, created a homogenous space, including an interesting mix of recreational activities undertaken in a smog-free environment. Krishna Verma displayed a jewelry boutique designed to cater to the needs of the elite section of society.

Akangksha Sarmah’s showcase ‘#Redefine’ was a deaf awareness campaign, through which she made an active effort to address and gain understanding of the deaf culture.

Additionally, the event was not just about showcasing the trends to follow in 2018 – it was also about learning from the fashion industry behemoths.

The exhibitions were followed by a panel discussion – ‘Failing to Succeed, with Madhav Raman, Mohor Roy, and Sumit Dagar, among others.

The event ended with an award ceremony felicitating the works of the students.
