Planning to get a driving license but don’t have a car or two-wheeler of your own for taking the driving test? Worry not! The Regional Transport Dept. has proposed to start a car service of its own at a nominal fee to keep your woes at bay.
A large number of individuals in the city appear for the driving exam every year and many of them have to take up the hassle of borrowing a car or two-wheeler from others to secure a driving licence. While its comparatively easier to borrow a two-wheeler, people aren’t always that keen to lend their cars. Realizing this, the transport department is planning pitch the private vendors to rent their cars at various Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) in the city. The first RTO to roll out these services is anticipated to be the one in the south zone, at Sarai Kale Khan.
The fees of these vehicles haven’t been settled yet, however, seemingly they will be around ₹200-300 for cars and ₹100 or less for two-wheelers.
In a place like Delhi where a huge chunk of the populace is dependent on private cars, this initiative was much needed indeed. The plan is still in the nascent stage. The final proposal is awaiting approval.
