Know It All In 30 Seconds
Delhiites! Your good’ol metro card can now be swiped in and out at parking lots too, as per the proposal in a recent meeting between DMRC and EPCA. A trial implementation will be carried out at three parking pilot projects, namely Lajpat Nagar 3, Kamla Nagar and Krishna Nagar to figure out which technology, among RFID tags, QR codes and metro smart-cards will work best for parking check-ins.
The metro card was first updated a year ago to enable its usage at DTC and cluster buses for paying fares. The old card was renamed as ‘ONE’ with the tagline ‘One Delhi, One Ride’. Thus, city peeps having this card facility can use it to pay fares for Delhi metro as well as local buses. By rolling out its usage in parking lots, DMRC is prepping-up to make these cards even more multi-purpose.
So, if you haven’t snagged your smartcard yet, get it ASAP from your nearest metro station ‘coz it’s gonna make your travel seamless, fuss-free and affordable.
