Here Is What Delhi’s 2016 Pride Parade Looked Like

Since childhood people taught us that being an oddity of the society is probably not the right choice. Maybe, but our society or rather India, was an idea. An idea that would allow every one in the country to live their lives on their own terms. But somewhere down the line the idea changed to allow the demons of our past to conquer our future. Or perhaps it never did & the spectacular idea – that India was – never did allow those who pride themselves in being unique to exist. Every year the LGBT Community of Delhi hosts Pride Parade. This annual walk supports & helps the countless, nameless people who are too scared to come out of the closet.

Well, we at DforDelhi, support all those who take pride in being part of the LGBT community. Because let’s face it – even if being ‘gay’ means being odd (to the society), the literal meaning of the word will always remain HAPPY! And Happy they are & Happy they will be – all they require is some support & some love. Because India too was considered to be an oddity of the world, by the world.

So, check out this photo story we put together from the Pride Parade held at Barakhamba Road on 27th of November. _29a0143-copy _29a0146 _29a0178-copy _29a9872-copy _29a9873 1 2 snapseed-copy snapseed-1 snapseed-2-copy snapseed-4

So, ‘come out of the closet’ & support the LGBT community. They are part of the saddi dilli family too! And if any of you are part of the LGBT community, rest easy. We are here to support you & to fight for you.

(Section 377 of the Indian constitution criminalises sexual acts. The Delhi High Court struck down this Victorian Era statute in 2009, only to be overturned by the Supreme Court in 2013. The apex body reasoned that the matter on LGBT rights & the decriminalisation of homosexuality must be left to the legislature.)
