Delhi Traffic Will Soon Be Managed By Artificial Intelligence

So, according to sources from the Delhi Traffic Police, traffic in Delhi will soon be managed by artificial intelligence. And believe it or not, 7,000 to 8,000 cameras will be installed by 2019 to kick-start the process.

In a nutshell: Delhi Traffic

One-third of Delhi’s traffic management will be taken over by AI. In fact, the cameras will have features like

  1. depth sensors
  2. colourless laser sensors
  3. multidirectional infrared
  4. IP-based public address systems at traffic signals
  5. LED boards synced with AI will show real-time traffic information
  6. dashboard devices will be linked to the cameras to issue challans
  7. they will count the volume of cars depending on the image pattern analysis

This would mean that fewer traffic policemen will be on the road to regulate traffic. Moreover, since the volume of cars on Delhi roads has increased YoY, this futuristic plan of a first world city will help in curbing traffic violations.

What else?

The AI system will also help in creating a predictive algorithm for assessing the traffic in various parts. Accordingly, it will feed real-time traffic information on the LED boards, so drivers know the traffic volume!

So, while the plan to install these cameras will be executed by 2019, what are your thoughts on it?
