WHAT IS COMIC CON ?
Comic-Con is the biggest and most famous convention for fans of comic books, superhero movies, video games, anime, manga, and in general, all things geek. The convention has its roots in comic books, but it’s come to stand for “geek” culture as a whole, and today you’ve got annual Comic-Con conventions that take place all around the world.
WHEN COMIC CONVENTIONS BEGAN IN INDIA ?
The first ever convention was hosted by Twenty Onwards Media between 19 and 20 February 2011 at Dilli Haat, New Delhi, India.
It showcased stalls by several Indian publishing houses, including, but not restricted to, Amar Chitra Katha, Vimanika, Diamond Comics, Kshiraj Telang, Manta Ray, Level 10, Campfire and many other new and upcoming publishers.
The Comic Con lasted for 2 days, and included several workshops, interactive sessions, interviews and speeches by various comic book artists and writers. Around 15,000 people attended. A few animation and multi-media productions had set up their stalls as well, and conducted seminars about animation design and future of animation industry in India.
The convention was inaugurated by chairman of National Book Trust, Dr. Bipin Chandra.
SO WHAT ARE THE BIG THINGS TO EXPECT FROM COMIC CON THIS YEAR ?
This year will witness a spectacular line-up of events; including launches, experiential activities, fan sessions, special panels, cos-play contests, autographing sessions, gaming tournaments, the coolest comic book and merchandise. Delhi Comic Con boasts of a fantastic line-up of talents from the Indian & International comic industry, along with existence of the country’s leading comic publishers.
This year has plans to be bigger, better and nerdier than ever.
WHAT IS THE VENUE AND TIMINGS OF THIS AMAZING CONVENTION OF COMICS ?
The Delhi Edition of Comic Con is scheduled from 4th to 6th December , at NSIC Ground, Okhla.
